Born in Warsaw, Poland. Came
to the US for a visit in 1980 during the Solidarity movement
uprisings in Poland and the subsequent
imposition of martial law. Decided to remain until "the situation stabilizes".
It took a few years to see the communist government collapse in
1989. From 1980 to 1983 worked as a research assistant in the Institute
for Biomedical Research at University of Texas in Austin. In 1983 moved to New York City and started a BA program in painting
and interior architecture at CCNY. Graduated in 1986 and started MFA program in Painting. Moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where continued MFA in painting in
the Art Department at Western Michigan University. Graduated in 1990. In 1989 went to Poland for the first time after 9 years to vote
in the first free presidential election. Became interested in new media (computer imaging). Had the first
computer imaging show in the history of the Art Department at WMU
in 1989. Worked in the Art department at WMU from 1990 to 2000. Taught various art studio and theory classes. Coordinated computer
services in the Art Department and the Dean's office. In 1992 started a MA program in linguistics. Graduated in 1995. Participated in several group art shows. Had seven one-person
shows. Painted, sculpted, created computer images. In 2000 decided to devote full time to making art. Quit the job
at WMU, built an art studio and now... is poor but happy, painting
a lot and making up for the past years!
